Cancelation of WRC2021 – Miami
The WRO Executive has received notification from our hosts Miami Dade Fire Department that they are not able to host this year’s WRC in Miami due to the ongoing challenges brought about by the pandemic, whilst this is extremely disappointing it is understandable due to many uncertainties.
On receiving this news the WRO Executive and North American Vehicle Rescue Association (NAVRA) have looked at alternative options to holding a physical challenge within the USA and primarily Florida, unfortunately, all options for an alternative were also not possible, resulting in the acceptance that the physical challenge will need to be cancelled for this year.
The WRO, whilst awaiting feedback on possible alternatives to hosting the challenge in the USA this year also undertook work to investigate alternative options in holding a virtual event in November 2021, it has been agreed that based on planning work for an alternative virtual event that such an event will go ahead in November this year. Details with regards to dates, duration, content, etc.. will be released in due course.
The WRO wishes to acknowledge the considerable work undertaken by our WRC2020 and WRC2021 hosts Miami Dade Fire Department and our WRO member NAVRA who have worked tirelessly to deliver a World Rescue Challenge last year and again this year.
Looking ahead, the WRO will host a virtual event this year as described above, please look out for details and announcements. The WRC2022 will be held in Luxemburg as planned between the 6th and 11th September 2022. The Luxemburg planning team has been in place for some time and have some very exciting plans for WRC2022 which will be held at their new state-of-the-art Training Centre.
The WRO wish to thank all for their understanding with regards to the cancelation and for the continuing support of the WRO.
