The World Rescue Challenge is a week-long training event where specialized rescue teams from fire departments from around the world compete in challenges that mimic real-life traumas.
To date, there have been twenty World Rescue Challenges, held in England, South Africa, Australia, Scotland, the Czech Republic, Brazil and beyond–and in 2021, this elite competition comes to Miami! Many events that are a part of the World Rescue Challenge are open to the general public to come watch, cheer on the teams, and learn about safety.
The World Rescue Challenge is hosted in Miami by The World Rescue Organisation (WRO), NAVRA (the North American Vehicle Rescue Association), and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The WRO exists to provide a platform for rescue personnel throughout the world to share and advance rescue science and technology and to develop and enhance proficiency in general rescue techniques, vehicle rescue, incident command and pre-hospital care. To promote injury prevention, through education and awareness, within all groups at risk from unintentional injury.
