(NON WRO EVENT)
This challenge tests emergency first responders as a team in patient assessment, medical care, trauma care, electrophysiology, pharmacology and EMS operations skills.
An emergency scenario is created with simulated patients and the team must assess and treat all patients within a limited time. There are also operational skills to be tested like triage, hazmat awareness and disaster response to name a few. Each patient in the scenario represents points to be accumulated until the team reaches a total score within the scenario. The team with the most points wins. Competitors working towards a goal are compelled to go above and beyond in training and performance to win.
The Advanced Life Support Challenge will consist of multiple days, multiple scenarios and patients.
Each team will compete with 3 members and be allowed to have 1 alternate member, which can rotate members in different scenarios. Each team member must function in a pre-hospital setting. Teams should be prepared for completing a scenario, repacking primary bags immediately, and proceed to the next scenario site. Part of the challenge is being able to manage equipment and reset for the next scenario.
